Thundercat (US)

6. April Thursday opening: 20:00
Small HALL

Active in a number of musical genres, bassist, singer and producer Stephen Bruner, a.k.a. Thundercat, released his first solo album in 2011. The Golden Age of Apocalypse was clearly influenced by the fusion jazz of the 1970s.

The 2017 Drunk, Thundercat's third studio album, represents the 21st century in all regards, and features some of today's most innovative performers, including Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, Wiz Khalifa, Kamasi Washington and Flying Lotus.

Acknowledged for both his special playing technique and distinctive sound, the virtuosic bassist has also come to his own as a producer and composer. Those whose records he has contributed to over the past ten years include Kamasi Washington, Kirk Knight, Taylor McFerrin, Erykah Badu, Kimbra, Childish Gambino, Mac Miller, the Suicidal Tendencies, Keziah Jones, and Terrace Martin.
